Celebrating Valentine’s Day Covid Style – We’ve Got You Covered!
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this time of year is normally busy with people making their romantic dates plans or planning fun singles nights out with friends. But with Miss Rona still looming large, and a deadly virus rather than love in the air, Valentine’s is going to be very different this year. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate! Here are some suggestions for ways you can spread the love next weekend, without spreading you know what x
1) Send a Care Package To a Loved One
Fill a parcel with treats and chocolates to a friend/partner/loved one! You don’t have to break the bank, Poundland have a whole aisle dedicated to the corporate holiday that is Valentine’s Day – they even have a new sex toy range if you’re feeling cheeky but cheap. A care package is a lovely way to show that you care and to make someone feel special!
2) Have a Zoom Dinner Date
Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a kitchen nightmare, the way to most people’s hearts is through their stomach. With this in mind, find a recipe you and a loved one think you’d both enjoy (and manage to cook…) and have a Zoom dinner date! Crank up the romance by dressing up fancy, lighting some candles and playing some love songs.
3) Have a Pamper Night
Either over Zoom with pals or on your own, treat yourself to an evening of self-care and indulgence. We’re all about self-love this Valentine’s Day so run a bubble bath, whack on a face mask, pop a bottle and treat yourself to the nice relaxing evening you deserve!
4) Make Someone a Scavenger Hunt
If you want to go the extra mile to show someone how much you care and you’re both in the same city, why not write them a scavenger hunt? You can make the stops and clues related to important places from your relationship/friendship, e.g., the bar where you had your first date, and have fun walking around reminiscing together about all the fun times you’ve had.
5) Go to a Virtual Show
Check whether your favourite band or performing arts group are putting on any live shows for Valentine’s Day and stream it together with a loved one! This is a great way to feel connected to someone you are apart from and to support the artists you love at the same time.
6) Bake your Feelings
Let all the heart-shaped cookies and cupcakes currently lining the shop shelves inspire you and get baking your own love-filled creations! Nothing beats home-baking. It’s up to you whether or not you share your creations…
7) Have a Pal-entines Quiz Night
Get a group of friends together and organise a virtual quiz night! If you want to stick to the Valentine’s Day theme, why not make the quiz related to everyone’s love lives/dating history? Maybe keep the volume down low if you’re staying at home though…
8) Watch a Rom-Com
Whether you’re streaming it with someone else on Netflix Party or having a party for one, grab the popcorn and settle down for a classic romcom this V-Day. Wine and tissues at the ready.
We hope that however you end up spending next weekend, you have a great Valentine’s Day and are able to spread love to your friends/lovers/pets/family/whoever!
