Isolation pick-me-ups for foodies!

With just under 30,000 international students from over 140 countries studying at UofGeach year, it is no surprise that the dietary habits of Glasgow can be varied and colourful. Scotland’s dietary patterns show that 15% of the population are flexitarians, 3% vegetarian, and 1% vegans. With a relatively recent increase in popularity (the numbers of vegans in the UK have quadrupled since 2014), vegan and vegetarian meals are now offered at many locations in Glasgow as a standard (even at the University’s own catering facilities). In fact, a UK-based surveyfrom 2019 placed Glasgow as the 3rd best city in the UK to be vegan. It is reassuring to know that a traditionally restrictive diet by nature, can feel less so due to the countless options available around town. From flexitarians to vegans to omnivores, Glasgow caters to all!
