Come down to GUU to see some local talent and meet new people. Check Facebook for event notices!

Okay, maybe I’m being biased here, but I couldn’t do events and not include our own! This is one we host regularly, so you wouldn’t want to miss the first of the new academic year!

EatFilm at Sloans Bar

Throughout September Sloans are continuing to do their film plus food deal. You can sit down and tuck into your food whilst watching a movie! Some of the September selection include Dirty Dancing, The Greatest Showman and The Big Lebowski. It’s a fun way to social distance and still get a taste of Glasgow and bond with new flatmates! You can find the dates and films on their website.

Gallery of Modern Art – At Home!

Whilst the much loved gallery isn’t open yet, they’ve taken their wonderful facility online to help everyone keep in touch with their artsy side! They have a vast array of arty activities like ‘strange fruits’, a painting workshop. Simply go onto their website and follow the link to their ‘At Home’ page, and sit down with your flatmates (and maybe some booze) and get painting!

The Glasgow Necropolis

It may not technically be an event, but it’s another way to fill some free time with your new flatmates and soak up some very rich and interesting culture from Glasgow. Psst – its free. A short walk from the city, lies the Necropolis – a towering hill of statues and gravestones from hundreds of years ago. Perhaps a little morbid, it provides an amazing view from the top and so many interesting little facts and things to look at on the way up. Its open everyday from 7am, and will fill those Instagram needs.

Pottery Painting @ The Craft Pottery

This is such a fun and different way to bond with new people and make some friends, whilst getting your artsy fix for the day! The Craft Pottery are located in the centre of Glasgow, making it easy to access, and they’re an independently run shop that take pottery painting classes. They also have a BYOB policy, so you can even have a few tinnies on the job. Simply go on their website and book, then head over with your mates and get stuck in! Plus, its another dish for your kitchen, which trust me, you’ll need.
